Chantal Petitclerc has had a long and fruitful career as a paralympic athlete. The only Canadian to have won medals at the Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games, she is the world's most decorated track athlete. After five Paralympic Games, 21 medals (including 14 gold) and, five world records, her outstanding career reached its peak at the Beijing Games in 2008, where she earned five gold medals. In recognition of her exceptional performance, the International Paralympic Committee named her Female Athlete of the Year in 2009. Chantal is now training to enter the Boston Marathon in April 2010. In addition to her career as an athlete, Chantal is a bilingual speaker who is much in demand all across Canada. She is also actively involved in various humanitarian causes, including Défi Sportif and the international organization, Right To Play. In 2009, she published a personal account of the Games entitled 16 jours à Pékin (16 Days in Beijing).
