|
| Q | When and where will the World Human Resources Congress be held? |
| A | The 13th World Congress will be held from
September 27 to 29, 2010 at the Palais des congrès in Montreal (Canada). |
| Q | Why should I attend the World Congress? |
| A | The World Federation of People Management
Associations holds its Congress every two years. The aim of this
world-class event is to build a global community of peers through
enabling HR management professionals to network with colleagues from
around the world.
Facing similar people management and development challenges, participants will have the chance to discuss not only local, national and international trends and practices, but also other issues such as their expanding role and the increasingly complex nature of their mandates. This international event will stimulate thought and discussion on their role and contribution to the profession. In addition, it will be an unprecedented opportunity for them to expand their horizons, build their network and become part of the global HR community. This World Congress will welcome over 3,500 HR professionals from the four corners of the globe, offer a diversified program with close to 100 outstanding speakers, an Exhibitors’ Hall with some 175 exhibitors, as well as various social activities including an evening’s entertainment showcasing an exceptional artist. |
| Q | What is the meaning of the Congress theme, HR Without Limits? |
| A | The program was developed around the theme,
HR Without Limits, focusing on the following four angles that illustrate
how HR adds value:
|
| Q | In which languages will the sessions be presented? |
| A | All the keynote sessions will be available
in English, French or Spanish. More specifically, the five keynote
presentations will be simultaneously translated into Spanish as well as
into English or French, depending on the language of the presentation. The workshops (all the concurrent sessions, including the SuperSessions) will be held in English, French or Spanish, with no simultaneous translation. The descriptions of the sessions are published in the language of presentation. In general, each Block includes eight presentations in French, seven in English and one in Spanish. |
| Q | Who can attend the Congress? |
| A | The Congress aims to be the event of the
year for HR professionals from around the world, whether they are
advisors, managers, directors, vice-presidents, specialists or
generalists, practitioners, experts or professors. |
| Q | I’m having trouble deciding which Concurrent Sessions to choose. Can you help me? |
| A | You have more than 80 sessions (around 15
per Block), which will be given in English, French and Spanish, to
choose from. A number of tools are available to help you select a
workshop by Block of concurrent sessions. First of all, you can read about all the presentations on the Congress website. For each Block, you can view all the presentations (in all languages) or only those presentations that will be given in a particular language (English, French or Spanish). You can also download and print the description of all the presentations. The description documents have been designed so that you can select a first and a second choice for each Block. The presentation descriptions are published in the language of presentation (reminder: simultaneous translation will be available for the five keynote sessions only). Lastly, you can consult the 11 tracks (leadership, diversity, branding, etc.) underpinning the themes of some 70 presentations. Each track is described and the related presentations are identified. For example, if you are especially interested in issues of diversity, you will see that workshops A03, C03, C12, D03, E03 and E09 address this topic. This can help you make your selection. |
| Q | What is a SuperSession? |
| A | The SuperSessions are longer presentations
that generally cover two concurrent session time slots. For example,
SuperSessions C15 and C16 will end at the same time as the Block D
sessions. Please note that SuperSessions A15 and A16 will start earlier
than the presentations in Block A (10 am rather than 10:45). Please
consult the Congress program for more information. |
| Q | What are the Table Topics? |
| A | Come and join us for breakfast in a warm and
convivial atmosphere on Tuesday, September 28, from 7:30 to 8:30 am. If you wish, you can join other delegates for breakfast, while discussing the hot issues and timely topics that will be addressed during the Congress. You will be able to participate in discussion tables, facilitated by renowned moderators with various profiles (practitioners, experts and professors) in English, French or Spanish. This will be a great opportunity to meet your peers from around the
world, share ideas and freely discuss topics of mutual interest. Don’t
forget to bring along your business cards! |
| Q | Why is there an orientation meeting? |
| A | Whether this is your first Congress, you want
to network or find out what’s new this year, this meeting will provide
you with many tips that will make sure you get the very most out of your
participation in the 2010 Congress.
|
| Q | Will the Concurrent Sessions’ support documents be handed out? |
| A | With the environment in mind, the
presentations will not be printed. However, those presentations that the
speakers agree to make available will be posted in PDF format (downloadable
and printable) on the Congress website two days before the Congress
opens. N. B. Access to the presentations is strictly reserved to
Congress registrants. |
| Q | How were the topics, sessions and speakers selected? |
| A | In 2009, a committee of HR professionals
from Quebec, elsewhere in Canada, and the United States met on a number
of occasions to determine the main program orientations (general theme,
tracks, topics to focus on) and to identify the most qualified speakers
to discuss trends and good practices, etc. The speakers were selected by
invitation only. The presentations in Block B (which will be launched in
the summer of 2010) were selected the same way. |
| Q | Will the Ordre be holding its annual conference in 2010? |
| A | The Ordre’s annual conference will be part
of the World Congress, offering Quebec HR professionals a unique
opportunity to discover national and international trends and practices.
It is the ideal occasion to expand your horizons and your network, enjoy
though-provoking discussions and enhance your competencies. Since the
World Congress won’t be held in Canada, and certainly not in Quebec,
again for at least another 20 years, don’t miss this exceptional
opportunity for your career! |
| Dinner show | |
|
|
| Q | If I confirm my Congress registration, do I have to pay extra to attend the dinner show? |
| A | The show is included in the registration fee.
There are no additional charges. |
| Q | I have confirmed my Congress registration, but I don’t wish to attend the dinner show. Can I obtain a refund? |
| A | Since the Congress registration fee is
all-inclusive, you cannot receive a refund for an activity in which you
don’t participate. |
| Q | I have confirmed my Congress registration, but I don’t wish to attend the dinner show. Can I send someone in my place? |
| A | Congress registration (including for the
dinner show) is for individual participation. It is therefore not
possible for you to give your place to someone else. |
| Q | Will I receive a ticket for the dinner show through the mail? |
| A | No documents will be mailed. You will receive
a name tag on the evening. |
| Exhibitors’ Hall | |
|
|
| Q | Can I participate in the presentations if I have a pass for the Exhibitors’ Hall? |
| A | The pass only entitles you to visit the
Exhibitors’ Hall during the time reserved for the general public. You
won’t be able to participate in the presentations. |
| Q | How can I get a pass for the Exhibitors’ Hall? |
| A | You can print a pass by

| A | To participate in the presentations, you must
be registered as a Congress delegate. |

| Q | Is there an all-inclusive package for visitors from abroad? |
| A | An all-inclusive package is available to
delegates from South America travelling via Panama. There is nothing
available for delegates from elsewhere, but we have negotiated preferred

| Registrations | |
|
|
| Q | I’m not an Ordre member and I don’t have a password. How can I register? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | Non-members can register for our
activities online (in the same way as members). If you don’t have a
password, you can obtain one by creating your file. When you see the
page, Open a session, you simply have to click on Create a file, just
below the Password field. |
| Q | How can I benefit from a group rate? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | If you are not a member of the
Ordre but you are part of a group of 10 people and over (association or
company), you can form a group. Go to "Registration now" (Québec
or Canada & International), then click on "How to form a group"
where you’ll find the table listing the various reductions according to
the number of registrants and the associated deadline. For more
information, contact our registration service without delay. |
| Q | I’d like to register several people, but can’t change the number of participants in the Number field. What do I need to do? (Qc) |
| A | You can only
register one person per transaction. If you’d like to register someone
else once you’ve completed the first transaction, you have to log off
the website and then log on again using the other person’s password (or
create a new file if this person doesn’t yet have a password). |
| Q | Can I indicate the names of all the group members on the same form? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | No. Each group member must fill
in and sign his or her own form. To make sure you are included in the
group, the form should contain the correct spelling of the group name
and be forwarded before the cut-off date for the fee change. |
| Q | Can I share my Congress registration? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A |
Congress registrations may not be shared with another person (not to be
confused with substitution*). Two or more individuals cannot take turns
participating in the Congress activities on the basis of a single
registration. |
| Q | Why do I have to pay a $1,000 deposit? (Qc-Group-Can-Intl) |
| A | The deposit is required to
confirm your attendance, which is necessary when planning an event the
size of the World Congress. Please read the Congress terms and policies
carefully. |
| Q | When will we know the total amount of the registration fees? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | Final invoices will be prepared
a few days after the cut-off dates (April 7, July 7 and September 7 for
Quebec, and July 7 and September 7 for Canada and International). The
rate will be determined according to the number of registrations
received from members of the association or group to which you belong. |
| Q | Can I receive an invoice and then arrange for payment? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | Yes. If you register online, you
can select the "Billing" option and an invoice will be emailed to you
after you have registered. |
| Q | I would like to register now, but I’d like to choose my workshops later. Is that possible? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | No. When you register, you have
to select the workshops/presentations you wish to attend (except for
Block B). This step is necessary since it will guarantee you access to
the workshops of your choice, as well as maintain participant numbers
within the limits set. |
| Q | Can I change my choice of workshops after I’ve registered and if so, what do I need to do? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | Yes, changes are accepted up
until September 7, as long as there is still room in the new workshop
you’ve selected. You can make your own changes
online by using your password to log on. You can also send an email
to inscriptions@RH2010.com. |
| Q | Once I’m in Montreal, if I change my mind can I participate in any other sessions than the ones I’ve selected? (Qc-Can-Intl) |
| A | Your choice of workshop entitles
you to priority access and is useful to help us with our logistical
planning. However, it is not intended to prevent you from attending
other sessions. At the Congress, volunteers assigned to the presentation
rooms will allow the participants who have selected the workshop to
enter first. Once they are seated, if there’s still room, other
delegates can attend without having registered beforehand. |
| *By substitute we mean a person who replaces for the entire Congress a registered participant who is unable to attend. In other words, a Congress registrant cannot attend the first day and then be replaced, or be absent the first day and then attend later. | |
