Words of Welcome
Word from the WFPMA

The WFPMA is proud to present its World Congress on Personnel Management and Development that will be held in Montreal, Canada, September 27-29, 2010. Held every second year, the WFPMA holds this international event taking into account its five main objectives:

  • To improve the quality and effectiveness of professional people management, and to demonstrate the importance of the HR role in all employing organisations, both public and private.
  • To stimulate and assist in the establishment and development of regional and national personnel management associations in those parts of the world where a continental or regional association does not exist.
  • To create and maintain contacts with all WFPMA member associations as well as with other organisations which have some activity in the same or similar field.
  • To support or represent personnel management associations in their contacts with world organisations such as ILO, UNESCO, the UN, etc.
  • To commission or undertake research which will further broaden understanding of personnel issues.

Reflecting its international origins and concerns, the event 'moves' around the world.

The WFPMA is convinced that the 2010 World Congress will meet its aim to enable HR professionals to build a global community of peers, to discuss new developments and to network with colleagues from around the world who face similar complex challenges in human resource management.

The WFPMA is a global network of professionals in people management. Its members are predominantly the continental federations which are made up of more than 70 national personnel associations representing over 400,000 people management professionals.
